Our Privacy Promise
Mina holds some of the most personal information there is — what you earn, what you owe, and where every dollar goes. Here is exactly what we do, and don’t do, with it. Plainly, and without the fine print.
- Never sold, rented, or shared
- Your financial data is never sold, rented, or shared with data brokers — ever. There are no ads and no advertisers. Mina is paid for one honest way: a small subscription. You're the customer, never the product.
- No trackers — and your browser enforces it
- Mina ships with zero third-party analytics, trackers, or telemetry. In production the app sends a Content-Security-Policy that instructs your own browser to block any connection to anywhere but Mina itself. You can confirm it: open your browser’s developer tools, watch the Network tab, and see that nothing leaves for a third party.
- We don't train AI on your data
- Your accounts, transactions, and income are never used to train machine-learning models — ours or anyone else’s.
- We don't look at your money
- Administrators cannot browse your balances, transactions, or income. The internal admin console shows only counts (how many envelopes or transactions exist), never a single dollar amount.
- Yours to take, yours to erase
- Download everything Mina holds for your household at any time as a single JSON file. And when you delete your account, your data is truly deleted — if you’re the only member of your household, all of its financial records go with it, and any lingering mention of you in internal logs is scrubbed.
- Third parties only when you choose
- The one exception to “no third parties” is a bank connection you opt into. Planned support for automatic transaction import (via Plaid) is optional: choose it and your bank credentials go straight to Plaid and never touch Mina’s servers; decline it and you can enter or import transactions yourself with no third party involved at all. If you connect a bank, Plaid receives only what’s needed to import your transactions.
- Payments stay with Stripe
- Subscription payments are processed by Stripe, on Stripe’s own pages — your card details never touch Mina’s servers, and Mina stores no payment information. The only things shared with Stripe are what billing needs: your email address and a reference to your household. Your envelopes, transactions, balances, and income never leave Mina — no budgeting data ever goes to Stripe.
