Terms of Service

Last updated: July 11, 2026

These terms explain the deal between you and Mina — what you can expect from us, what we ask of you, and how your subscription works. We’ve kept the language plain. For how we handle your information, see our Privacy Promise.

1. Agreement to these terms

These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your access to and use of Mina, a household budgeting application, and the related websites and services (together, “Mina” or the “Service”). By creating an account, or by accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Promise. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

If you use Mina on behalf of a household or other group, you represent that you are authorized to accept these Terms for that group.

2. Who may use Mina

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to use Mina. By using the Service you confirm that you meet this requirement and that the information you give us is accurate and complete.

3. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Choose a strong password, and let us know promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.

A household in Mina is shared: members you invite can see and change the household’s budget, envelopes, transactions, and accounts. Only invite people you trust with that information. The household admin is responsible for managing membership and the household’s subscription.

4. Free trial, subscriptions, and billing

Every new household starts with a 30-day free trial. No payment card is required to begin, and we never charge you automatically — no charge is made until an admin actively chooses to subscribe.

When you subscribe, you pick a plan and a billing interval (monthly or annual). Paid plans renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from the billing settings, which take you to our payment processor’s portal; cancellation stops future renewals and takes effect at the end of the current paid period.

Payments are processed by Stripe on Stripe’s own pages. Your card details never touch Mina’s servers, and Mina stores no payment information. Prices are shown in the app and on our pricing page; we may change prices, but we will give you reasonable notice before a change affects your renewal. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable.

If a subscription lapses, your household becomes read-only: you keep full access to view and export your data, but writing new data is paused until the subscription is renewed.

5. Acceptable use

Use Mina only for lawful purposes and in line with these Terms. You agree not to: break the law or infringe anyone’s rights; attempt to access accounts or data that are not yours; probe, scan, or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure; reverse engineer, scrape, or copy the Service except as permitted by law; or resell or provide the Service to third parties without our permission.

We may suspend or limit access to protect the Service, its users, or third parties, or to comply with the law.

6. Your data and privacy

Your budget, transactions, income, and account balances belong to you. Our commitments about how we handle your information — that we never sell or share your financial data, don’t train AI on it, and let you export or delete it at any time — are set out in our Privacy Promise, which forms part of these Terms.

Some features rely on services you opt into. If you connect a bank for automatic import, your bank credentials go to our data provider (Plaid) and never touch Mina’s servers. Subscription billing is handled by Stripe. Those providers receive only what their function requires, as described in the Privacy Promise.

7. Mina is a tool, not financial advice

Mina helps you plan and track your own money. It does not provide financial, investment, tax, accounting, or legal advice, and nothing in the Service is a recommendation to take or avoid any particular financial action. The numbers Mina shows are computed from the information you and your connected accounts provide; you are responsible for your own financial decisions, and you should consult a qualified professional for advice about your situation.

8. Service availability and changes

We work to keep Mina available and dependable, but we may add, change, or remove features, and we may need to take the Service offline for maintenance. We may also update these Terms from time to time; when we make a material change, we will take reasonable steps to let you know. Continuing to use Mina after an update means you accept the revised Terms.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will meet your specific requirements. You are responsible for keeping your own records and for verifying anything you rely on.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Mina and the people who build it will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or savings, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) the Service. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim.

11. Termination

You may stop using Mina and delete your account at any time from your settings. We may suspend or end your access if you materially breach these Terms or use the Service in a way that risks harm to others or to the Service. When your account is deleted, your data is handled as described in the Privacy Promise.
